My travels this week took me to Augusta and conveniently to our jobsite, Cony High School. This project is our largest to date– not only the $23,000,000 price tag but also the square footage. Enrollment for Cony HS is approximately 880 students attending from the surrounding communities of Chelsea, China, Jefferson, Palermo, Somerville, Vassalboro, Whitefield, and Windsor. The new school spans 184,000 square feet and includes 3 regulation size basketball courts, an auditorium that will seat approximately 950 individuals, a food court, a cyber café, library and a courtyard. On average, there are 80-100 workers on site on a daily basis. The school was designed by PDT Architects and incorporates a clock and curved point of entry, mimicking the existing school. The project is scheduled to be complete in fall of 2006. Check out http://www.cony-hs.augusta.k12.me.us/newCHS/ for more information and construction photos.
